A Peek at Our Week

Since I can tend to get a little wordy with my posts at times (ya'll aren't laughing right now, are you?), I'm gonna try to just do a sort of bulletin type post to share some things about the past week. So without further ado, here goes....

~Last Saturday afternoon we spontaneously drove up to Chattanooga and spent the night. Saw some friends, looked at cars for sale, and visited a great church on Sunday morning. Other than my allergies being horrible, Darcey crying half the time, and no one really sleeping it was a fun trip! ;)

~Monday was recovery day for me after getting back home late the night before and still having horrendous allergy problems. Needless to say, we didn't do a whole lot that day.

~Tuesday was our 9 year anniversary! It's hard to believe we've been married that long, but then I look at our kids and have to believe it when I see how big they're getting. Blake took off work and it was a beautiful day so we planned to go out and do something fun....until I woke up with my ribs popped out of place again. (it's the ones in my chest so it makes it pretty impossible to do very much without a lot of pain) We took the kids to my parents, I saw the chiropractor, we went out to eat, and then just came home to take it easy for a little while. And in case you're wondering, the ribs still aren't doing too great. Any suggestions on how to stop them from going out every few days would be greatly appreciated!

~Wednesday we had a homeschool field trip to a local planetarium followed by picnic and playing. It was so neat and of course the kids had a blast, even if it was cold and windy outside. Darcey had developed a slight fever and earache (which I'm hoping is just from cutting teeth) so my parent's watched her while we went. I miss taking her with us hardly any, but I know it's really better for her to be at home so she doesn't react to stuff. Hopefully we'll be able to get her out more one day soon!

~Thursday was an allergy treatment for Dathan and Darcey. We're trying to tone down the reactions a little for them both since they seem the worst right now. Although I'm thinking Delancey and I could use a few treatments as well since her exzema is acting up alot and I seem to not be doing good with chemicals and fragrance. (which of course are everywhere!) The rest of the day we just took it kinda easy since my ribs still hurt and the kids were a little tired.

~Friday (today) I'm up extra early with the baby girl, because you know my kids just don't like sleep for some reason. The bigger kiddos have been planning to go to the homeschool show n tell here in a little while so mom will be coming over to watch Darcey again so I can take them there. They practiced dressing up and giving speeches last night so we'll see if they actually do them. I'll definitely have to post about that later....it's gonna be great! :-)

But that's a look at the past week around here. Delancey and I have plans to see a "Little Women" play tomorrow with my mom and aunt so that should be fun too. All in all it's been a busy, crazy week so far. I think I'll be kinda glad for a break next week! Hope your weekend goes well and I will be updating again soon....

Sunshine all Around!

So thankful for the beautiful weather God has blessed us with the past couple of days! There's just something about waking up to the sun shining after several days of clouds and rain that does something for my spirit. But even more than that I'm thankful for the sun shining in my soul because of Jesus! When I wake up to Him each morning, there's really nothing else that can compare....no matter what the weather. :-) Here's part of a song that I was thinking about today. Hope you enjoy....

There is sunshine in my soul today. More glorious and bright. Than glows in any earthly skies. For Jesus is my light!
O there's sunshine, blessed sunshine, when the peaceful happy moments roll. When Jesus shows His smiling face, there is sunshine in the soul.

Growing, growing, grown! (almost)

I don't know around your house, but something around here has our kids getting bigger by leaps and bounds! It seems like every day I turn around they're looking differently or learning something new. It's exciting and a little sad all at the same time. It's hard to believe how quickly they're growing up and even harder to believe how quickly they'll be grown! That being said, here's a couple of things to share about each of them....

Dathan had a growing spurt in the height department the past few months, but has yet to fill back out so he looks so tall and thin right now! (especially compared to the rolly-polly little baby he was) He's doing great with his schoolwork and even does alot on his own before bringing it to me for checking. Which is a big help while I take care of Darcey! His newest goal after he grows up is to become president and he is currently practicing by giving speeches, etc here at home. I love it! :) He's such a great big brother and helper, not to mention just an all around great kid. I'm so thankful to be his mom.

Delancey has also grown taller in the past few months, although she is still little and petite looking....which isn't a surprise since it kinda runs in the family. She is working on her reading and does other schoolwork as time allows for me to help her. She loves being a big sister, but can get a little too excited about playing with Darcey at times. I think she forgets that it's a real baby and not one of her dolls! lol She loves singing, playing, and loving on everyone in the family. I'm so happy that I get to watch her turn into the young lady she'll be one day soon!

As for Darcey, she is growing up right before our eyes and has turned into a chunky little thing. :) Which of course is extremely cute but makes it more than a little difficult with all the holding we have to do! Let's just say I have bigger arm muscles and sorer neck muscles than before. lol She is thankfully doing better with her reflux issues, although there are still good and bad days. Between allergies, stomach, and teething it's still a struggle to care for her at times, but I'm glad for every little bit of progress she makes in feeling better. She is such a happy baby when feeling good and never fails to smile and laugh at all of us. She can roll over from each way easily now and is trying to sit up and even acts like she'd like to crawl when on her stomach. Today she was sticking out her tongue and when I started talking to her about it and showing her mine, she would actually do it over and over again when I told her to. I was more than a little amazed that she seemed to understand what I was doing and saying!! I also think she will be trying to talk early on....probably because we do so much talking to her and around her ourselves. She's gonna have to learn quick so she can get in on the conversations! :) As challenging as things are and even in my sleep deprived state at the moment, I love having Darcey as part of the family.

So there's a little update on the kiddos. It seems I never take the time to keep a record of anything so maybe this will be a little something to look back at and remember what they were doing at these ages. Plus I get to share it with all of you! Until next time....
